Airtel Nigeria participates in the world blood donor day
… as 56 employees donate 56pints of blood in 5 hours 26mins

In commemoration of the World Blood Donor day, Airtel Nigeria collaborated with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, to raise awareness on the importance of voluntary blood donation. Airtel Employees under the Employee Volunteer Scheme joined in the global campaign and set up a makeshift blood donation clinic at the Banana Island Head-Office for employees to give their blood towards alleviating the plight of patients in dire need of transfusion.

The donation exercise had a total of 56 pints of blood donated by 56 employees in 5 hours 26 minutes.
The Managing Director, Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya commended all members of Employee Volunteer Scheme for their commitment to touching lives and for their passion towards adding value to the wellbeing of  the people in the local communities.
”It is our understanding that this little gesture by all the donors did not just align with the theme of this year’s Blood Donor Day- #BloodConnectsUsAll- but demonstrates our commitment to touching lives”; he said.
World Blood Donor Day has been celebrated every June 14, since 2004, with the aim of improving the safety and adequacy of the national blood supplies by promoting a substantial increase in the number of safe, voluntary, unpaid donors who give blood regularly.
