Airtel Sierra Leone Donates Decommissioned Telecoms Equipment to Njala University ICT Lab

AIRTEL DONATES DECOMMISSIONED TELECOMS EQUIPMENTS TO NJALA UNIVERSITY ICT LAB
 
Freetown, Sierra Leone: - Airtel, Sierra Leone yesterday presented decommissioned telecom equipment to Njala University for their ICT Lab at their Freetown Campus. 
 
Receiving  the equipment’s on behalf of the College the Dean of the University expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to Airtel for capacitating the Lab with such equipment which they were in dire need of and stated that  ‘our dream has been materialized’. He explained that they were intending to start a master’s programme on ICT but one of their major challenges was lacking an adequate Lab. The Dean also emphasized that with a well-equipped ICT Lab they can now start their master’s programme.
 
Airtel SL Human Resource Director, Barry Honnah in his statement said that ICT is the bedrock for development of any society. He also noted that more emerging economies in Asia and some African countries have used ICT as the centerpiece of their development. He urges students to make use of the opportunity as this would make the ‘enterprising befitting’ he formally handed over the equipment to the University through the Dean and University Coordinator.
 
The ceremony was also attended by staff from the networks department and the Planning and Optimization Manager explained the functions of the various equipment’s and how to use them saying lecturers and students should be able to use each machine as required.
