Tanzania Football Federation  recognizes Airtel Rising Stars

Dar es salaam, Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has urged regional football administrators to recognize the concept of the U-17 Airtel Rising Stars football tournament which is to scout for talent as opposed to their teams good results.

“We realize that some of the regional football administrators are missing the essence of Airtel Rising Stars U-17 tournaments of scouting for talents as opposed to winning the matches; this is the major reason for our persistent over age problem in youth football programs”, said the TFF General Secretary Celestine Mwesigwa.
Mwesigwa commented on, Airtel Rising Stars tournament investment being a catalyst in the Tanzanian football development,  recognizing its presence for six consecutive years. He testified to positive results that, the Tanzania football Federation has yield through Airtel Rising Stars program in under 17 national teams, Serengeti boys and Twiga stars team players. “Youth tournaments  are the most reliable and sustainable way to scout Talent and groom the stars we see today .Ghana, for example, has attained such admirable record after placing much emphasis on teens’ programs”, he added.
The tournament is scheduled to kick off at the grassroots level this month and reach its climax on August 28th 2016 while the national finals will be staged in Dar es Salaam from 6th to 11st September 2016.
On her part, Airtel Tanzania Public Relations Officer, Jane Matinde said that “This year’s Airtel Rising Stars tournament  is yet another golden opportunity for youngsters to showcase their football talent and stand a better chance  to  become football stars . We call on key stakeholders and the general public  to watch the regional and national matches and use the Airtel Rising Stars platform to scout for talent for their clubs and teams.
This year’s tournament will feature Mwanza, Morogoro, Mbeya, Temeke, Ilala and Morogoro regions in boys’ category while Ilala, Kinondoni, Temeke, Lindi, Zanzibar and Arusha will take part in girls’ category.
