Airtel Tanzania launches Airtel Rising Stars Season 6

Dar es Salaam, Monday, 27thJune 2016, The Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Honorable Nape Nnauye over the weekend launched Airtel Rising Stars season six for U-17 youth football tournament. The minister commended Airtel Tanzania for partnering with the Government through Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to develop youth football in the country.
 
“Youth football program is the cornerstone for football growth anywhere in the world. This is why I am here today to re-emphasize the significance of ARS whose fruits over the past five years are very conspicuous”, said Nnauye.   
 
He made reference to the U-17 football national team Serengeti Boys which constitutes ten key players from Airtel Rising Stars. “Spotted talent from Airtel Rising Stars also forms the entire National women team Twiga Stars squad”, said Nnauye. 
 
The minister called on football administrators to take the youth program seriously to maximize the realization of football talent that Airtel Rising Stars tournament continues to offer.  I am happy that Airtel Rising Stars starts from the grassroots culminating into the national finals held every year.
 
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Airtel Tanzania, Director of Communications, Beatrice Singano, expressed the company’s commitment to carry on supporting the youth tournament which has developed  Tanzania’s football in mainland and the Isles. She further said this year’s Airtel Rising Stars is part of the ongoing Airtel FURSA campaign launched last year with the aim to empower the youth with various enabling opportunities.
 
Airtel Rising Stars season six tournament will draw participants from Mwanza, Morogoro, Mbeya, Temeke, Ilala and Morogoro regions in boys’ category while Ilala, Kinondoni, Temeke,  Arusha, Lindi and Zanzibar will  include  girls’ teams.
