The Rural Education Committee (REC) Primary is situated in the Western Rural Tombo Community. Tombo is a seaside village that is densely populated and the main source of income is fishing. Their salary scale is very poor and having to deal with the issue of overcrowding in the classrooms – they have had to run a double shift to cater for the needs of the community. There are some parents who prefer their kids to join the family trade- fishing, they do not see the importance of providing a good education for their children.

There are very few classrooms for the over 900 students. Only 5 classrooms serve these children and their furniture, tables and chairs have some that are in need of repairs. There are hardly any books in the school.
