airtel Uganda, the leading Corporate supporter of Education in Uganda, joins other stakeholders towards achieving the second millennium development goal.- to achieve universal Primary Education by 2010; notably, the Ministry of Education and Sports which has partnered with airtel in this mutual cause. Through airtel’s Build Our Nation education campaign over 140 Primary Schools across the country have received text books worth over Uganda Shillings 380 Million. The books as well as other scholastic materials from airtel have helped to keep pupils in school, addressed the poor pupil text book ratio, improved on the reading culture and have generally improved on the teaching and learning process resulting in better performance.

Through airtel Uganda, several Universities have benefited from University grants that they used to complete or complement various academic projects. They received this support as participating Universities in the inter university Academic Quiz tournament; the airtel Africa Challenge (ZAC).


R.A.I.S.E Millennium program

The R.A.I.S.E. Millennium Program is a 4 day holiday program which runs during the first three weeks of every Secondary school holiday. The program is designed for youth who are in Secondary School and/or at the University.The youth also get a chance to interact with business people through the mentorship sessions. This year, airtel sponsored thirty less fortunate students to go and take part in the program which was taking place at the Hub Oasis Mall in Kampala. Students from all over the country were chosen and were awarded with certificates of attendance at the end of the program. Some students won Samsung mobile phones courtesy of airtel Uganda. Furthermore, some selected students will have an opportunity to win a chance to undergo a 6 week internship with reputable companies in Uganda in various fields.
